ESPORT is an Essential Skills assessment and
planning tool to help clients:
Investigate occupations (Interest Inventory and Job Futures)
Answer fifty questions about things you like to do and the way you
like to do them. The program lists occupations that may appeal
to you. You can register and save the list.
Job Futures provides information on job prospects, pay range,
and certification required for the occupations you are
investigating
Assess Essential Skills (Self-Assessment)
Rate yourself in ten Essential Skills
(Reading Text, Document Use, Writing, Numeracy,
Oral Communication, Problem Solving, Decision Making,
Job Task Planning, Finding Information, and Computer
Use). Compare your skill levels with the levels required
for different occupations.
Choose an occupation matching interests
and skills
Choose an occupation that interests you, that will be in
demand in the future, and that comes close to matching your current
skill level. Now you can start a portfolio targeted to your choice.
Document experience (Portfolio) and create
a résumé
An Essential Skills Résumé tells employers whether you have the
foundational skills to make their training dollars pay off. You
show them how your skills match with the skills they need. The
résumé is straightforward and easy to read.
Plan strategies for closing the gap between existing skills and
job requirements (Learning Plan)
Create a learning plan that will help you improve and document
the skills you need for your chosen occupation. ESPORT offers a
variety of learning tools to help you reach your goals.
